The River Suir (pronounced like "sure")
The River Suir, which flow through Cahir is one of Ireland’s major rivers and a particularly important one in County Tipperary. It flows through the Golden Vale, a famously fertile agricultural region, and plays a big role in the natural and cultural landscape of the area.
Source and River Course

The River Suir rises in the Devil's Bit Mountains, near Templemore in north Tipperary.
-
It flows southwards, passing through towns like Thurles, Holycross, Cashel, Golden, Cahir, Clonmel, and eventually into Waterford Harbour.
-
The river actually forms part of the Three Sisters – along with the Nore and Barrow rivers – which all eventually meet near Waterford and flow into the sea.

The Suir is famous for its wild brown trout and Atlantic salmon.
-
It's considered one of the best trout rivers in Ireland, particularly around Cahir and Golden.
-
The surrounding environment supports rich wildlife, including otters, herons, kingfishers, and other river species.
