The Suir Blueway in County Tipperary is a spectacular multi‑activity route along 53 km of the River Suir, weaving through Cahir, Clonmel and Carrick‑on‑Suir.
Canoe or kayak from Cahir all the way to Carrick‑on‑Suir, with calmer sections near Cahir and more lively, rapid stretches around Clonmel.
With 53km of paddling trails and a 21km cycle route, Suir Blueway Tipperary is the perfect escape for all the family to savour some of Ireland’s most beautiful countryside and fascinating history.
Kayak or canoe on flowing waters, go for a cycle along river banks, take a hike up nearby mountains, or a more sedate stroll in the bustling medieval towns and villages from Cahir to Clonmel and on to Carrick-on-Suir.
Local History along the blueway
Passing old castles, tower houses and churches along the blueway, you can discover their history of drama, romance, intrigue and deadly rivalries all set against a world of natural wonders in Ireland's Ancient East.

Location
Just two hours from Dublin, and one hour from Cork via the M8 motorway, Suir Blueway Tipperary has something for all ages and interests.
The blueway is broken up into a land and a water trail. There are plans to extend the land trail from Clonmel but this is still in the planning stage.
The water trail goes from Cahir to Carrick-on-suir while the land trail goes from Clonmel to Carrick on suir along an old tow path used by horse drawn barges.
